Tesla at a Trillion-Dollar Market Cap: Revisiting its Valuation
Published at : November 08, 2021
I last valued in January 2020, and I did sell my shares after that valuation, at perhaps the most inopportune time. The stock price has increased ten-fold since then, as Tesla has navigated the COVID crisis much better than its competitors, improved its competitive standing and positioned itself for further growth,. In my updated valuation, I reflect these change in my growth and profitability assumptions to arrive at a dramatically higher value than I did in January 2020, but with the stock price increasing even more quickly, it falls short of that price. As with all my Tesla valuations, I recognize that this is just my story and valuation and offer pathways for those who disagree, in either direction, to come up with their own valuations.
