PM to announce $100 million investment into new technologies to bolster defence

Prime Minister Scott Morrison is set to announce a $100 million investment into new technologies on Wednesday in a bid to protect Australia’s critical infrastructure assets from attack.

The Prime Minister will use a speech at the Sydney Dialogue to outline the federal government’s plan to become the leader of quantum technology in the Indo-Pacific region.

Mr Morrison will also announce a plan to collaborate with Australian universities for technological advancement over nine priority areas including critical minerals, advanced communications, artificial and cyber intelligence and genomic and genetic engineering.
